Matrix

If you are not familiar with Matrix, please visit their official website to learn more. I explain some basics here, but I do not go into detail.

Getting Started

This is an open source chatting protocol akin to Discord. Your homeserver is where your account resides, and I (thesofafox) would be administrating your account by signing up to my homeserver. Spaces are like "servers" in Discord, and rooms are like "channels". Because Matrix can become resource-heavy fairly easily and there are spam issues on Matrix, sign-ups will only work with an invite code/registration token. Ensure you are following the Terms of Service and CoC of The Sofa Lounge as you should with any other service offered.

In order to join this homeserver, you must contact me and receive a registration token. Upon signup, you can enter this token to make your account. Without it, you will be unable to. If this is your first time using matrix, ensure you have downloaded a client first as well. The official Matrix Foundation website lists quite a few you can try out, but I recommend Element, Cinny, or SchildiChat for most average users.
